Steph, Nick, Shelbë and Marc

My Place in the Solari Family Tree:

My dad, Delbë, is the son of Emmanuel Delbë and Anna Lucille (Isle) Solari. My sisters and brother are Susanne Gaskins, Shelbë Zimmerman, and Joseph Solari. Nick Spurlock is my husband (his great-great-great grandfather was full-blooded Creek Indian), and our children are Shelbë and Marc. We have a crazy albino parakeet named Maile.

My three greatest joys:
1. family
2. friends
3. spending time outside

My three biggest goals for the year:
1. spend more time with family and friends
2. stay committed to exercising and yoga
3. become better organized

Three surprising facts about me:
1. went parasailing in the Tetons
2. Aerosmith fan since 1972
3. enjoy grocery shopping

Steph is enjoying a relatively quiet Saturday, catching up on bills and banking (yippee). Nick is running errands, Shelbë is attending a women's engineering conference, and Marc is at a LEGO robotics exhibition. After all of these years of exposing the kids to a variety of activities and experiences, it's very exciting to see them developing interests in more specific areas. They are kind, loving, and thoughtful, and Nick and I are very blessed to be their parents.
We spent some time in Washington, D.C. this summer and wore ourselves out trying to see everything. We took full advantage of the Metro system which Marc found fascinating. Shelbë surprised us by "surviving" the trip up the Washington Monument. Poor kid is terrified of heights, but she was very pleased that she got over that hurdle. Nick and Marc could have spent the entire week in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Steph would have liked more time in the National Gallery of Art. Not sure if Shelbë actually saw much of anything since she had her nose buried in a book most of the time!
A big thank you to Melodee for taking over the responsibilities of the Sentinel. She's got some great ideas that should help us get to know each other better. Here's hoping she gets lots of responses.
Our love to all,
Steph, Nick, Shelbë and Marc
