The Hudacks are in the last 2 week stretch of school and can't wait for summer! It's been a little busy around here so let me update you.
Spring time found us finishing Kate's GU12 soccer All Stars season and led us right into Spring Select. She moved around a bit playing forward and defense and saving a few goals. Mostly we won some and we lost some. Riley went from Football into Lacrosse (his favorite if you are asking). He plays defensive long pole on the freshman team and they were undefeated this year. He finished up the year with Defenseman of the Year for his team. He had a great season and left some "trash in the yard" as they say.
Over the Easter Break we went up to Whidbey for a few days to relax, read, rest and rejuvenate. The weather was overcast and a little rainy, just how we like it. Matt and I also went to Maui for a few days on a John Hancock trip which was sunny but, very windy so not too much time on the beach but, fun nonetheless.
Mostly we have been planting , planting, planting for my youngest brother's wedding which will be held in our backyard June 19. We are very excited and the backyard is taking shape in a sea of white hydrangeas, white calla lillies, white roses, and 8 lbs. of seeds of white alyssum, creeping daisy, gypsophilia and cosmos. We plan on spending most of our free time this summer( and there won't be much) sleeping around the pool!
Summer will find Riley going off to UCSB for a weekend lacrosse camp put on by the Naval Academy and Kate having her dance recital. Then we are off to the East Coast with a travel lacrosse team that Riley will be on. He will be playing 3 tournaments in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Annapolis (at the Naval Academy) and Princeton, New Jersey. He will be staying with the other players in the college dorms and we will be staying in the nice hotel rooms! Kate and I will travel home early to get her ready for a week at church camp. The boys will head home and Riley will start football. Kate will be busy with ballet and hoping she is able to get on pointe this summer.
Other than being taxi mom I have been busy with being on the PTA board for Kate's school, serving as a Grade Level Advisor for her National Charity League, tennis and taking care of our new kitten, Jasmin. Matt's soccer coaching career came to an end a few weeks ago so to fill his time he is planning the Foothill High School Football Golf Fundraiser on July 16, a new board member for our FHS Ed Fund and also a new member on the FHS Lacrosse Board. He fits work in between.
Both Riley and Kate did well in school with Kate pulling her first 4.0 in her first year of middle school and Riley a 4.2 in his first year of high school. We are hoping they can keep it going!
We will also be going up to Whidbey at the end of the summer for our usual much needed get away. My whole family is trekking up this summer even the Newlyweds so it will be busy but, fun.
Hope all is well with everyone and we can't wait to hear all the updates. Happy Summer to all and we are sorry to miss what we know will be a wonderful family reunion!
Love, Kristen, Matt, Riley and Kate
