Hello, everyone, from Utah-the state that can’t decide what season we’re in! We had a BIG snowstorm on May 24 & we were back to wearing sweaters, boots, and coats. The next week we had a “taste” of spring for Memorial Day, which was nice. Then last weekend we popped up into the high 80s so we finally got to wear shorts again. But the bad news is all the snow still left up in the mountains started melting & coming down AT ONCE so it’s flooding in the valleys! (Our home is on higher ground so we don’t have to worry about that…) And this weekend it's back down in the 50s & snowing up in the mountains-CRAZY!!!! At least we do get to experience the seasons here!!!!
Life continues to be interesting for us, trying to find the path that we’re supposed to travel! Mike is still “officially” unemployed although he has been able to do a few little jobs for people around here-thank goodness! This economy is so strange, especially with construction. So he continues to look at different options and try to figure out where the Lord wants us! We’re very grateful for Dianna’s job at Orem Institute of Religion that’s VERY secure plus we have great benefits-that helps reduce our stress greatly!
Our kids are blowing and going. Emmy continues to work at JCWs & is saving her money to move out & get back to Utah Valley University in the fall. She is also on the Institute Student Council for next year so she’s excited about that. Matt has had a few months to adjust to being home from his mission-and get used to the cold! He’s been working at a different JCWs & trying to put a video production company together. He’s also working on a “sequel” to one of the videos he made before his mission with a November Premiere scheduled! (He’s excited to talk with Joe at the family reunion!) Julianna finished up her music teaching at the private school. (She taught all age groups from pre-k to high school.) She had to move out of her apartment & is storing her stuff in our backyard shed. (Thank goodness Mike hadn’t taken it down yet!) Then she drove to Midland last week all on her own & will be there until the end of July, staying with Grama Sue. Bryan & Lacie are still living in Lehi (the next town over from us) with their two doggies, Mabee & Cooper. Bryan’s taking the summer off from school & trying to be patient as the JCWs store he manages is being remodeled. Lacie has been looking for a new RN job & just found one at an elderly care center this week-YEA! So they are doing well.
Our 2 oldest children have the biggest news: Brandon is engaged to be married on August 7 here in Utah to Melinda Anderson, from Oregon! They met in Washington, D.C. last summer where they were both interning. She had graduated from BYU the April before & has family in Provo. So she moved back here when Brandon came by for Law School. They told us they were engaged on Mother’s Day-what a great gift! We’re very excited for them to be together forever!
The other big news is from Melodee , Stephen, & Kyle: Ryan Andrew joined the Cooper family on Friday afternoon, April 9, 2010 and he is wonderful! “Granna” got to be in Florida when he was born, to help take care of Kyle. (BTW, Granna forgot what it was like to be around a 2 year-old 24-7!!!) Anyway, it was so fun to get to be there & hold Ryan as a “fresh from heaven” baby! It was hard to have to leave after a few days, but it’s okay since we all get to go out in a couple of weeks for the Solari Family Reunion-AND Ryan’s baby blessing! We are getting very excited about going to Florida & being together! (We’ll miss you, Hudacks & Granarolis…are you SURE y'all can’t come?!! We’d LOVE to have you there, too!) Anyway, it will be great fun to be with those who are able to come.
One other fun thing for us is that Mike was FINALLY able to get his VW Bus running! It’s taken over a year to get it done. (It still has some “issues”, but it runs!) It’s so fun to drive it up American Fork Canyon and have people wave & cheer as we go by! (If only we could figure out a way to make some money from that!!!!) So it’s a fun little blessing in our lives right now.
