Time is marching on for us. We celebrated our 64th wedding anniversary on May 6th by going out to dinner at the Cliff House on the Rincon. It is a perfect setting for a celebration as it is tropical with palm trees and watch the surfers till sunset. We are so lucky to have each other for so long.
My annual ladies group that went to Mammoth in March had a great time. It snowed every day but one and one day there was two feet. The trees were beautiful with all the snow. Only one lady skis anymore so she took advance of the sunny day. The rest of the time we played Mexican Train, poker, ate, shopped and enjoyed the company. It was time to make decisions about our living room furniture as the sofa sleeper was showing it's age. Ended up by ordering two new couches, an end table and a new mirror instead of pictures. It just got completed the first part of May. We have not seen what it looks like but there are pictures on the internet from our reservation bureau we work with. If you want to take a look go HERE. Sorry to say the rentals are down due to the economy but we rent enough to pay expenses.
Danielle will graduate from the University of California at Santa Cruz on June 13th. which we will attend. She really is not sure yet of her plans for the summer but is looking into doing an internship on a farm in Oregon or Washington growing vegetables. She has done this in Santa Cruz and seems to really enjoy. Who knows, she may be the farmer in the family. Brianna will finish her first year of teaching third grade at Canalino school hoping to get a job in the fall. Right now she is deep into writing her thesis for her master's degree. Her graduation from Antioch College is June 26 at Lobero Theater.
We plan to go to Washington in September to visit friends who live on a lake near Bellingham and the Canadian border. There is another couple going and we will do day trips from their home with one overnight. We felt we would hold the others back as they are a bit younger than us but they say no to come along. They don't keep up the pace they use to either. We have a direct flight from Santa Barbara into Seattle and come home from Bellingham. Our friend has all the side trips planned for nine days. It does sound like we will have a good time with lots to see.
Ange just hired a Mexican to work for the summer. It is getting harder and harder for him to do the irrigation. He says he is not as steady on his feet as he use to be walking in the orchard. I told him it is about time he got some help. We just had some sick avocado trees removed, brush shredded and ready to plant about 50 trees.
We were at an avocado commission meeting recently and they are encouraging about the price for the summer. It should go up in July and August. Hope their projection is right.

Sunday,June 14th. We just returned from a weekend in Santa Cruz. Saturday was Danielle's graduation from U.C. at Santa Cruz. We are so proud of her as an outstanding student she received University Honors. She had a good representation cheering for her. There was us, David, his lady friend, Collin, his lady friend, Mary who she lived with when she went to high school and her 3 daughters who she calls her sisters and a couple we did not know. One of Danielle's graduating friend's parents from northern California rented a large home for the weekend. It was almost on the beach with a beautiful view. They had an open house barbecue with other graduates and their family. Of course we did our part by making and taking homemade guacamole. One family from L.A. that are of Armenian heritage made all kinds of Greek food. What a spread that was put on. It was so much nicer than going to a restaurant. Danielle has to be at Port Hadock, Washington, by July 1st to start an internship on a farm. This is what she wants to do this summer and it may lead into more than a summer job. We just had to brag a bit.
